Stupid Drivers!

Sorry I've been gone, this is why:

Yep, I was in a car accident Tuesday morning.

Headed down a two-lane highway that cuts through a stretch of woods, and this car decides to pull into an abandoned house's yard to turn around by backing out into the highway. I came around a blind curve, and....well, my car isn't so pretty anymore.

What upset me the most is that I've only made two payments on this car. Is there some weird voodoo surrounding new vehicles that make them attractive to bad stuff?

Anyway, I've been working with insurance all week long trying to get the car fixed. I'll be posting more soon; I've already had a Halloween haul, and the house is almost ready for pictures!

Please send out positive thoughts to me so this doesn't happen again.

Still non posting: done moving, still unpacking

OMG I feel like I've been gone forever. But I'm glad to see that no one has abandoned me in my absence, thank you all for your comments and welcome my two new followers! We're still in the process of unpacking; I've actually JUST found my laptop and internet hotspot in a box. I'm starting class again tomorrow, so I still will not have any pictures. Someone did give me an idea for a post though: packing and moving tips! I don't know how helpful I'll be, because I've made a lot of mistakes on this move. Maybe a Do Not Do This post? Share my fails and let them be your wisdom?

Anyway, here is a vampire smiley, just because I can.

Non-Post: How did I get so much stuff?

Just letting everyone know I'm still alive; I've been packing and moving boxes, trying to get everything ready for The Big Move on Saturday.  I'll be posting again as soon as everything is done, I promise, and I'll have some pictures of my new place! Yay for the headache that is moving!

Homework Assignment: Purses and Bags

The Professor over at The Dancing Maenad assigned this lovely piece of homework for this month. This is my first assignment post for her, and I'm uber excited about showing off my purse!

I got this last year from ebay, sometime just before Halloween. Twice while I was shopping I had clerks try to scan by coffin purse as a Halloween decoration!

I have Green Hair!

I had a friend bleach my roots and dye them green last night. I love doing things to my hair!

One a different note, I was laid-off Friday because of the business changing hands. I'm tired of working retail though, anyone looking for a writer?

Guide to Halloween shopping

The season is almost upon us! Well, close enough, the stores are stocking spooky goodies anyway. I was actually inspired by The Everyday Goth's post on shopping for year-round decor, and thought I would add just a few things to her helpful list:

Is it durable? :  There are two types of Halloween decor; those that are meant for parties and other such one-night events, and those that are meant for a longer shelf life. Metal, plastic, or heavy resin are you best bets for year-round home decor.

Will I use it? : If you are anything like me, the moment Halloween shopping strikes, you want everything. However, before you convince yourself that the eye-ball lights are a must, think for a moment about how you are planning on using them in your home. Do you already have an idea for a particular item before you came to the store? Can you think of a place to put something that may be more of an impulse buy? The great thing about this time of year is that we can find a spooky alternative to nearly every household item imaginable, but what good is a plastic grim reaper if he is just going to sit in a closet or in an attic while you wait for an opportunity to use him?

Also bear in mind that certain Halloween decorations can be used as Christmas decorations later on. I have multicolored skeleton lights for my tree and a black wreath with purple bats on it for my door, both bought the Halloween before Christmas last year.

eyeball ring I picked up last year

Will I wear it?: This pretty much goes with the "will I use it" question, but for clothes and jewelry. There are plenty of lovely things to be had during these months as far as Gothy fashion goes. However,  you need to keep in mind how an item will look after the Holiday is over. Is it too Halloween specific? While there are many good reasons to wear skulls and bats all year round (unless Halloween imagery just isn't really your thing), but candy corn and ghost patterned things .... might be cheesy in a bad way.

Above all else, be creative! This is our opportunity to acquire things that will turn our environments into   what we really want, so have fun and try not to go completely broke!

I smell Vampire Blood

Hello my lovelies (and new follower, yay!) today will be a quick one since I'm packing up for the move. Hopefully we will be transferring all our stuff to the new house this weekend, weather permitting.

Saturday Sam and I went Goodwill shopping in Warner Robins, which is about a 30 minute drive from where we live. We donated some old toys of Zach's, Sam found some pants for work and I unearthed a pretty little Halloween themed Old Navy shirt that had been lurking in the ladies section, waiting just for me.

I didn't think to get Sam to take a picture of me while I was wearing it yesterday, but I did my best with my camera phone this morning.

Ok, we've now learned that my phone takes crap pictures, sorry.

Anyhow, we also came across this shop called A Touch of Magick that we had never seen before. Naturally we investigated, and found all sorts of things I wanted to buy. There were some really cute gargoyle figures that I resisted (I'll go back later), but we did get some incense, namely this:

The caption on the side of the box is what makes this so adorable: "Vampire Blood is harvested through an advanced process in which vampires are slowly bled. The unearthly qualities of the blood are isolated and extracted into a premium incense. Some vampires were harmed during this process but none met true death. This is a rare premium extract of Vampire Blood that is sure to heighten the senses and create inner sensations of nirvana. Enjoy"

The incense itself has a somewhat strong smell when burned, but is still enjoyable. I also picked up some Dragon's Blood in cones. Dragon's Blood has been my favorite sent for years.

Well, that's all I have, what did you guys do this weekend?

Monthly Theme: Bows

Sorry guys, I'm not dead. I've had muscle spasms in my back since Friday and haven't been able to move much. I finally got some of my soul back after taking muscle relaxers for a couple of days.

Anyways, on to Sophistique Noir's thème for August: Bows!

I love these little skull bow earrings! I can't remember where I got them, but I think they are the perfect marriage of cute and spooky.

That's as much of my face as you're getting today, I think I'll go lay down now.

Upcoming posts: a showcase of my Nightmare Before Christmas t-shirts, and a list of Halloween shopping tips for decorating year-round.
